A New Chapter for Palmer Lane Maple: A Beloved Local Business Passes the Torch

Dan Phelan to Carry Forward the Tradition of Vermont’s Iconic Maple Creemee Brand

Jericho, VT — As of July 1, 2025, Palmer Lane Maple — the treasured creemee stand and maple goods store nestled in the heart of Jericho — begins a new chapter. Longtime local hospitality leader Dan Phelan will officially assume ownership, continuing the tradition of community, and superior Vermont-made products that have made Palmer Lane Maple a seasonal ritual for so many.

With over 23 years of leadership at The Windjammer Restaurant, one of Chittenden County’s most respected dining establishments, Dan brings more than just experience — he brings a reputation built on relationships, reliability, and community investment.

“It’s not always the meal people remember, but the feeling, the experience. That’s the common thread I see between The Windjammer and Palmer Lane Maple,” said Phelan. “Palmer Lane Maple is already a Vermont institution. I’m honored to continue what the Palmers so thoughtfully built, and to carry that forward with care.”

Founded and operated by Paul and Colleen Palmer, Palmer Lane Maple has become a hallmark of Vermont summers. From award-winning maple creemees to maple products and curated gifts, the business is open year round and has long been defined by its local character and service. Through the early transition, the Palmers will remain involved to ensure that the rhythm, feel, and operations of Palmer Lane Maple continue to meet community expectations. Continuity is at the forefront.

“We’re incredibly proud of what we’ve built with Palmer Lane Maple” said Paul Palmer, “and are excited to pass the torch to Dan, who shares our dedication to quality and community. This has never just been a business, it’s been a gathering place, a way to connect with our neighbors and bring joy to a small part of their day.”

Dan will preserve Palmer Lane Maple’s legacy as a local family-owned and operated business, with a focus on continuity of service, product, and experience — values at the core of both his career and the Palmers’ success.

The community is invited to stop by, say hello, and enjoy a maple creemee this summer — knowing that this handoff is one from one beloved local steward to another.
